West
Valley Elementary - West Valley City, Utah
Architectural Nexus recently completed a prototype elementary
for the Granite School District. Each elementary will accommodate
800 students in a 78,000 S.F. building. The School is designed
with the latest technologies and interactive methods to meet
the primary goal for this facility, which is to provide an
effective environment conducive to creative thinking, exploration,
learning and teaching for the benefit of students.
The
prototype features a central library, outside classroom amphitheaters,
large group instruction rooms, teacher support areas, food
services, a state of the art computer facility, two-sided
stage/gymnasium area, administration center with conference
areas, and 36 classroom spaces. The prototype also features
separate visitor and employee parking from bus drop off zones
as well as large and colorful learning murals featuring an
ocean scene, hot air balloons, and a space explorer and science
scene.
Architectural
Nexus received the National School Board Association Design
Award 2000 for the unique "Z" shaped classroom concept.
