George S. and Dolores Dore´ Eccles Critical Care Pavilion, University of Utah -- Salt Lake City, Utah

A new addition to the existing Hospital located on the University of Utah Health Sciences Campus, the project consists of 26 new surgical ICU beds, 3 new heli-pads, 6 new ORs and new Emergency Department facility. Architectural Nexus designed a unique approach to solve the University's site problems and accommodate all their needs. The structure is a beautiful triangular brick and glass addition that supports views of the Salt Lake Valley. The new addition is in front of the Hospital and adds a modern and sophisticated new look to the entrance of the facility. The project also includes a $3 million parking facility.

The 55,470 S.F. structure holds 171 new stalls on two levels. The top level is designed to hold three helicopters on three helipads.

This contract was a design/build competition award. The Eccles Critical Care Pavilion was a design/build project between Architectural Nexus and Layton Construction Company.
