Huntsman
Cancer Institute Research Hospital, University of Utah
-- Salt Lake City, Utah
Huntsman Cancer Institute Research Hospital is a unique
patient care environment inspired by the founders, Jon
and Karen Huntsman. The goal of the Institute and the
Cancer Research Hospital is to put patients first and
provide hope through research and treatment on the road
to finding cures for cancer.
The
cancer research hospital building is designed to make
a patient feel at home immediately. In keeping with
the desires of the donors, these waiting areas are appointed
to provide optimism and a feeling of confidence and
care on the part of the families of the patients undergoing
treatment. Family care in the cancer program is essential.
The design of the building helps to facilitate the belief
that patients are not the only individuals affected
by cancer. Family and loved ones feel the pain as well.
The Huntsman Cancer Research Hospital received the "Project of the Year" award from the Intermountain Contractor in 2002
