Salt Lake County. The following includes some of the important phases:
- Number
and type of fire fighting apparatus to be accommodated
- The
mix of male/female fire fighters to be accommodated
- Relationships
between sleep areas and day time areas
- Quick
and direct access to apparatus bay from sleep and/or day
areas
- Safe
and easy access to street from the apparatus bay
- Draining
of water from apparatus bay to appropriately located and
serviceable grease traps
- Managing
CO exhaust and ventilating the apparatus bay
- Special
program features such as Hazardous Materials, Paramedics,
etc.
- Durability
and maintenance for building systems and finishes
- Realization
that a fire station is a day time or night time home for
fire fighters and should consider privacy, comfort, socialization,
dining, quiet/noisy spaces, and protection of living quality
