ARCHITECTURAL NEXUS OPENS PHOENIX OFFICE
Firms First Office Outside of Utah Poised to Take Advantage of $200 Million
in Arizona Health Care Developments Projected for the Next 12 Months
SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 20, 2003) - Architectural Nexus, a principal
architectural firm formed by the recent merger of Jensen Haslem P.C. and
Thomas Petersen Hammond Architects, today announced the opening of the
firm's Arizona office.
Architectural Nexus, which was awarded three contracts in the Grand Canyon
State prior to its opening, is poised to capitalize on an estimated $200
million in new Arizona health care-related projects projected to commence
over the next 12 months.
"There is a growing need for a full-service health care firm in the

now have a strong practice in Phoenix with significant depth and history
that, coupled with our specialists in Utah, will benefit not only our
clients, but the quality of health care in Arizona."
Architectural Nexus' Arizona office currently houses a core team of experienced
architects that will work closely with specialists from the Company's
Salt Lake City and Logan offices. The Arizona office is projected to grow
to 20-25 professionals in the next two years. Architectural Nexus is the
largest architectural firm in Utah with more than 100 professionals and
such marquee projects as the Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of
Utah Eccles Critical Care Pavilion, and the University of Utah Health
Science Center.
Prominent Phoenix architect Robert M. Aitken, AIA, who joined Architectural
Nexus as a Principal in the spring will head the Arizona office. Since
joining the firm, he has been instrumental in signing contracts for the
design and renovation of Mesa General Hospital's rehabilitation unit,
a $12 million project for the design of a new hospital in Western Arizona,
as well as the firm being awarded the design contract for a new life care
center in Phoenix.
In addition to Aitken's Arizona work, he has attained an international
reputation as one of the leading architecture and healthcare planners
providing a wide range of services with expertise in programming and contract
administration. Aitken, who has more than 21 years of architecture experience,
has served as project director for numerous community hospital and clinic
projects as well as on large metropolitan campuses. He also has overseen
projects in California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, Nevada and
Wyoming. His international work includes community clinics, hospitals
and research institutions in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, India, Mexico,
Pakistan and various Middle Eastern locations.
