ARCHITECTURAL NEXUS HONORED FOR SLCC STUDENT PAVILION
Project Featured in American School & University Architectural Portfolio
SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 23, 2004) - Architectural Nexus, Utah’s largest architecture firm, today announced it has been honored for design excellence by American School & University and featured in the organization’s annual Architectural Portfolio.
Architectural Nexus received the award for the firm’s work on Salt Lake Community College’s Student Pavilion.
“It is a real honor to be nationally recognized by your peers,” said Dave Cassil, Managing Principal, Architectural Nexus. “A jury consisting of members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and school administrators evaluated submissions from around the country.”
The Salt Lake Community College Student Pavilion, which also received the 2001 Best of Utah Architectural Design Award, is a $2.1 million, 16,100 square-foot center with a grass tiered amphitheater and a large solar shell that is visible throughout the college’s 114-acre campus. Architectural Nexus designed the facility with the input from students to ensure the design would attract them to the pavilion and serve as a catalyst to interact with its offerings. The firm was selected for the project after winning a competition against other internationally recognized designers.
Architectural Nexus has extensive experience designing buildings for educational institutions including University of Utah, Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and the Granite School District.
