Position Description:
Arch Nexus is looking for an experienced Interior Designer to join our growing firm. Come be a part of our diverse, multi-disciplinary design firm where we are collaborating to create some of our region’s most significant projects. Required Skills and Qualifications:

Jobs: Energy Analyst Wanted at Arch Nexus

We are looking for an experienced Energy Analyst to join our firm. This position is for someone who is curious, proactive, self-motivated and has an appreciation and willingness to learn. Come and enjoy the breathtaking views, world renowned outdoor recreation, and friendly people in Utah while working on some very exciting projects. Responsibilities include working through all phases of design to meet project goals and engage in close collaboration with the Arch Nexus architectural team engineering consultant teams to evaluate building systems and make recommendations for design measures that will improve the building performance. Candidates are expected to scale their efforts appropriately to the phase of design to adequately guide projects towards sustainability goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to the design team to meet energy performance goals.
  • Generate whole building energy models to analyze envelope, HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Evaluate passive design strategies, natural ventilation strategies, daylighting and thermal comfort.
  • Prepare technical deliverables like energy analysis reports or presentations on results of whole building simulation, life cycle cost analysis, life cycle assessments, embodied carbon calculations.
  • Prepare other technical deliverables like code compliance documentation, LBC documentation, LEED documentation.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Architecture candidates will be considered. Engineering candidates preferred. 
  • Minimum 2 years of energy modeling experience in the AEC industry required. Preference given to candidates with more experience.
  • Strong understanding of building science and building technology systems such as HVAC, envelope, and lighting.
  • Deep understanding of interdisciplinary impact of design decisions on high-performance buildings.
  • Proficiency in IES-VE, e-Quest, or Energy Plus, and willingness to learn new tools are required. All current projects at Arch Nexus are modeled in IES-VE.
  • Experience with modeling protocols such as ASHRAE 90.1, California Title 24, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency and experience in creating energy analysis documentation for LEED certification requirements.
  • Comfortable receiving and incorporating critical feedback.
  • Ability to work quickly and be deadline oriented.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • BEMP certification
  • LEED AP accreditation
  • Familiarity with CFD analysis
  • Familiarity with Revit
  • Familiarity with Rhino
  • Experience with scripting and programming

Arch Nexus is seeking a talented and motivated licensed architect to work in either our Salt Lake City or Sacramento Offices. The successful candidate will work with an integrative team through all phases of design including programming and planning, to develop and document holistic designs for a variety of project types. This position is for someone who has the ability and is motivated to create places that enrich people’s lives through a thoughtful design process, technical expertise, integration across all design disciplines, and collaboration with all project stakeholders. Applicants should enjoy working in an integrative environment, demonstrate strong communication and design skills, be a self-starter and a problem solver.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the overall design intent of the project as established by the Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation.
  • Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed.
  • Responsible for technical resolution and coordination for a project or a defined portion of a project.
  • Checks completed plans for accuracy.
  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the entire Project Team.
  • Responsible for communication with other disciplines, consultants, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all project requirements and provides support as necessary.
  • Ensures that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards.
  • Fosters a commitment to client service.
  • Develops a positive relationship of trust with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Attends on-site visits to observe construction progress and attend project meetings as required for the project. Prepares and coordinates the review of contractor’s schedules, submission of RFI responses and other coordination documents in order to verify design intent.
  • Integrates sustainable design solutions into projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Licensed Architect in the State of Utah.
  • 3 years of architecture design experience.
  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit.
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu or other markup software.
  • Able to prepare a full set of construction documents.
  • Sustainable design accreditation a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, and construction methodology.
  • Knowledge of architectural building systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design.
  • Knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Participation in professional organizations is a plus.
