In 2021, to explore the flexibility of the Nexus Builds program, we decided to test building a smaller scale project in a higher volume. We reached out to various social programs in our community an asked what we could do to help them achieve their goals. The Department of Special Education in Ogden School District was a perfect fit.

In order to raise additional funds for their activities, the students enrolled in this program at Ogden School District sell concessions from a cart that moves through the halls of the schools. The items they sell are small, mainly syrup flavored sodas and snacks, but the carts they had been using had reached their end of service. We had a few highly engaging brainstorm sessions with the staff and students, and together we designed a cart to fit their unique use. Discussing the cart design with the students was a deeply meaningful emotional highlight of 2021.
