Located on the UC Davis south campus, the Equine Center will be a hub for horse rehabilitation and high-quality veterinary training for students. Meetings with the user group Center for Equine Health provided valuable input on materials used, site requirements, and the design of the pavilions. The user group also provided guidance on how to best ensure the safety of horses during rehabilitation processes. The Equine Center has two main pavilions that serve distinct yet parallel functions. One pavilion is designed to house equipment that assists in treating injured horses, which includes an underwater treadmill and equi-ciser. Across the way is the teaching pavilion for UC veterinarian students, situated in an environment that encourages hands on learning. These pavilions are connected by a roof and a breezeway, providing space for students to watch and learn, and for staff to effectively treat their patients. The pavilions are made of durable materials that are Red List Free and can withstand constant wear and tear while requiring minimal maintenance.
