Gillette College Center

The Gillette College Activities Center is a community icon for the town of Gillette, Wyoming. Contrasting the surrounding plains with its dynamic, angular form, the center supports events from basketball and volleyball games to graduation ceremonies. The staggered, glazed pattern on the front of the building is reflective of the wooden sport court layout inside, and the clear glass lights up like a lantern in the evenings, creating an inviting atmosphere for all events. Multi-use centers require a high level of coordination to ensure ease of operations for game day set-ups, staging requirements, portable lighting, and acoustical performance. Support spaces for the athletes include specialized strength and fitness training facilities, laundry storage and an assortment of lockers and team rooms. In addition, this facility includes educational classrooms for career training in areas such as nursing. The athletic support spaces are adjacent to a large field that will support the college soccer team, tying all the campus’ ongoing activities together.
