Position Description
Architectural Nexus is seeking an experienced Job Captain with 5–10 years of professional experience to join our dynamic team in our Sacramento office. We are looking for a highly capable architectural professional who is actively pursuing architectural licensure or is already a licensed architect. This is an in-person role requiring close collaboration with our Sacramento team.
As a Job Captain with Arch Nexus, you will play a key role in the design and technical delivery of impactful educational environments, leading significant portions of projects from design development through construction administration. You'll work closely with Project Architects and Project Managers while taking ownership of technical coordination, mentoring emerging staff, and helping ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.
We are seeking a self-motivated, collaborative professional who thrives in an employee-owned design firm and is committed to continuous growth. Experience with K-12 and community college projects, California Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements, and/or healthcare projects subject to HCAI regulations is highly desirable.

Core Responsibilities
Lead technical development for assigned portions of project work
Investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions
Independently solve issues with minimal guidance
Manage select team members to accomplish assigned tasks
Report progress on regular basis back to PM/PA
Take ownership of designated areas of project or portions of the work
Prepare detailed construction drawings or complete portions thereof
Organize project documents, schedules and reports
Research and implementation of Codes, technical manuals and other pertinent information
Oversight of portions of project from start to finish
Meet project deadlines and contribute to project coordination and deliver
Required Skill Set
5-10 years of architecture experience
Actively pursuing architectural licensure or currently licensed as an architect
On an architectural licensure track is preferred
Proficient with Autodesk Revit
Proficient with Bluebeam Revu or other markup software
Strong knowledge of design, construction methodology, and building systems
Knowledge of applicable building codes and ability to research and apply them
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines efficiently
