Libraries Projects:

Sprague Library

The Sprague Branch of the Salt Lake City Library system has sat at the heart of the Sugar House for over 90 years. It’s historic Tudor style has been an anchor to community activities and meaningful personal experiences for generations. Arch Nexus and Margaret Sullivan Studios were commissioned to bring 21st Century library planning and design to the interior of this beautiful edifice after a flood damaged much of the garden level. Through community outreach and staff engagement we learned what was important to this specific community and began planning spaces around these desires and needs. Colors, finishes, and woodwork were carefully selected to meet an era-appropriate feel while using contemporary materials for easy maintenance. Motifs from the historical Sugar House culture and infrastructure were used to both document and recall community memories.
