UC Davis Health Campus Eye Center

The UC Davis Health Eye Institute is a 4-story addition to the existing ambulatory care center and represents world class eye care and strives to inspire patients and visitors alike. A strong partnership between our criteria design team and user groups was critical to developing criteria documents for the eye center. Meetings with donors and users turned into visioning workshops with selected patients to fully visualize what the eye center could be. After these discussions, we recommended sweeping views and biophilic design to inspire a sense of calm in the patients. The strategic placement of medical services eases the patient's journey and supports easy access to care. The UC Davis eye center demonstrates the advancements and contributions achieved at the center and affiliated off-site research facilities. The building also serves as a museum, displaying the university’s large collection of eye exam equipment and artifacts to educate visitors on the history of eye care.
