160 M

Completed

2018

What was once a gas station, hardware store and demolished buildings, has transformed into the modern Hardware Village. Adjacent to the Salt Lake Hardware Building and various multimodal transportation opportunities, Hardware Village is an architectural reference to the history of trains and the industrial period. The proximity to these transportation hubs helped the development achieve the National Green Building Standards. The 265 residential units capture the memory of these historical periods with their display of masonry, steel and concrete. On the ground, two-level brownstone units with front door stoop access strengthens the connection between a resident’s community and home. The design of Hardware Village conserves a precious resource for metro areas – space. Single family housing units place 5-10 homes per acre, where 100 units per acre exist at Hardware. Common spaces at Hardware include tranquil courtyards, a library with historically inspired leather chairs, and a rooftop with fire pits and views of the city and Wasatch Mountains. This is a community built with sustainable daily life in mind. Residents can take in what makes this area unique, connect with their community, and utilize public transportation all within a few steps from their front door.
