Architect Position - Sacramento


Position Description

Architectural Nexus is seeking a Job Captain with 3–7 years of experience to join our dynamic team. This is an in-person role requiring collaboration in our Sacramento office. As a Job Captain with Arch Nexus, you will contribute to the design and delivery of impactful educational environments, working on all phases from concept through construction documents. We are looking for a self-motivated, collaborative professional who thrives in an employee-owned design firm and is eager to grow with us. Experience with K-12/community college projects, the Division of the State Architect (DSA) of K-12/community college projects and/or healthcare and HCAI projects is beneficial.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage portions of technical aspects of assigned projects

  • Investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions

  • Independently solve issues with minimal guidance

  • Manage select team members to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Report progress on regular basis back to PM/PA

  • Take ownership of designated areas of project or portions of the work

  • Prepare detailed construction drawings or complete portions thereof

  • Organize project documents, schedules and reports

  • Research and implementation of Codes, technical manuals and other pertinent information

  • Oversight of portions of project from start to finish

  • Meet project deadlines and contribute to project coordination and deliver


Required Skill Set

  • 3-7 years of architecture experience

  • On an architectural licensure track is preferred

  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit

  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu or other markup software

  • Strong knowledge of design, construction methodology, and building systems

  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and ability to research and apply them

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines efficiently
