Rocky Mountain Power Breaks Ground on Ambitious Project

Breaking ground on the redevelopment of Rocky Mountain Power’s 170-acre North Temple site in Salt Lake City marks an exciting new chapter for the region. Strategically situated near the Jordan River and Utah State Fairpark, the new Salt Lake Service Center, Technical Operations and Hub Warehouse, and Substation Apparatus Training Center are central to this ambitious project. In collaboration with Architectural Nexus and Mortenson Construction, these state-of-the-art facilities are designed to enhance resilience, modernize utility operations, and support the company’s transition to cleaner energy and increased sustainability.

The Terminal Campus will serve as a central hub, integrating office, materials storage, logistics, and technical and training functions, empowering Rocky Mountain Power to serve our community as efficiently as possible. The Technical Operations and Hub Warehouse emphasize flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability, designed with adaptive layouts and energy-efficient systems. The dedicated training center will provide classroom and hands-on workshop learning for substation staff, supporting workforce development and broader community engagement. With plans for urban integration and resilient infrastructure, this project exemplifies regenerative, future-ready design and sets a new standard for utility campuses.
