Architectural Nexus was selected to work collaboratively with the Church’s Temples and Special Projects Team of interior and architectural designers in development of a new multi-level design for a 4/50 temple plan. This structure sits on a prominent hilltop site located to the south of the BYU-Idaho campus. A major interior design challenge presented at the beginning of the project was to provide an appropriate and inspiring interior design while taking into account escalating costs that had been experienced on other recent temple designs. Creative use of more conventional finish materials were combined with innovative detailing to produce a dignified and uplifting temple environment which is consistent with the temple worship experience. Appropriate application of detailing and consistency of design throughout the temple created a cohesive, unified design statement which is unique to the Rexburg Idaho Temple.
