The six-story Emma Eccles Jones Laboratory houses the University of Utah School of Medicine’s research programs, including multimedia lecture halls and classrooms, advisory offices, seminar rooms, laboratories and conference areas with reliable technology and equipment. On each floor, an ‘Oxbridge’ space resides in the center of the building. This term is derived from the Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and is a designated space exclusively used for researchers to discuss their work amongst their peers. This intentional design reinforces the importance of the academic research they conduct every day. The brick and glass building sweeps across the valley floor in Salt Lake City, creating a strong, fortressed sensation that highlights its importance in supporting the research of university students. Surrounding this laboratory are the Wasatch mountains, providing a connection to nature and relief from the routine of research. This established laboratory supports the success of university students and the advancement of medicine for all.
