Education Projects:

Franklin Elementary School

Franklin Elementary School is a new school campus in the growing Elk Grove Unified School District. This school has earned CA-CHPS Verified status, which certifies through an independent third party that the design is healthier, more environmentally efficient, cost-saving, and is designed and built to the highest performance standards.  Sustainability features include healthy indoor materials, superior ventilation, and occupant controls for comfort and daylighting. These design features support student focus and achievement. The project team collaborated with the district to pinpoint areas that could further support student success and health. The campus’ energy performance is higher than existing code and has the capacity to increase rooftop solar energy production. Educational displays are woven throughout the school, enabling teachers to bring sustainability curriculum into the classroom. Notably, Franklin Elementary School has achieved these sustainability goals while also meeting the state budget guidelines. Franklin Elementary school is a replicable model and is slated to be reused throughout the district. It is an aesthetic facility, as the design was also tailored to this specific site. The repetition of forms, brick wall finishes, and covered entryways create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students to truly thrive.
